West Ham are moving to press ahead in their efforts to sign Josh King for £18m after a deal to sign Said Benrahma appears to have hit a brick wall.

That is according to the Mirror, who claim that a move for Benrahma could now be off, despite a medical being readied for tomorrow.

It is claimed that the Hammers will now focus their attentions on Bournemouth and Norway striker King, who has been widely-tipped to leave the Cherries this summer.

The report claims an £18m deal could be on the table for West Ham, who are now looking ready to meet the valuation Bournemouth hold over the forward.

David Moyes is apparently more focused on the signing of King over Benrahma, as he looks to add to his options in the centre forward position rather than prioritise wider areas. The likes of Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio are already proving to be fine players for Moyes in those two areas.

But the news of a deal for Benrahama being in doubt will not be pleasing to most West Ham fans, regardless of if they sign King.

While the signing of Benrahma is the one that would get West Ham fans off their seat, the addition of a solid and experienced Premier League player like Josh King needn’t be overlooked.

He’s scored goals at this level already and is capable of playing as a number ten or a number nine, something Moyes will see as key.

Of course, the Hammers may well sign both players in the end. But if it comes down to one or the other and it does turn out to be King who arrives, West Ham fans shouldn’t feel too disappointed.
