Report: West Ham target three instant signings following Bilic appointment
Despite only taking the West Ham reigns in the past 24 hours, reports suggest that Slaven Bilic is already looking to wrap up three early deals at Upton Park. With Marseille duo Andre Ayew and Andre-Pierre Gignac and Sampdoria’s Pedro Obiang linked with moves to the London outfit, the Croatian head coach may assert himself far sooner than supporters were expecting.
According to the Mirror, the Hammers have already lodged a £5.75million bid for Spanish midfielder Obiang. The 23-year-old box-to-box commander, who was tracked by club scouts last season, scored three times in 33 Serie A games last term.
Meanwhile, 29-year-old striker Gignac, who scored 21 goals in 37 Ligue 1 appearances for Marseille last season, and 25-year-old winger Ayew, who netted 10 goals in 28 games, are both available on free deals following the expiration of their current contracts with Marseille. However, the Hammers will face intense competition for all three targets, with a number of club’s vying for each player’s signature.
The 46-year-old has signed a three-year deal at Upton Park – following spells with Croatia, Lokomotiv Moscow and Besiktas – and despite featuring low down on the list of favourites for the managerial role at Upton Park, he is clearly eager to make an instant impression.
