West Ham United will have to see off competition from Borussia Dortmund for Sasa Kalajdzic this summer, with The Independent reporting that the Stuttgart star is seen as a potential replacement for Erling Haaland.
Kalajdzic has enjoyed a superb campaign in the Bundesliga. The 23-year-old has scored 13 goals in 26 top flight games. His record is all the more impressive when you consider that he has started just 16 times.
It appears that the queue of his admirers is growing ahead of the summer. The Independent notes that West Ham are one of several Premier League sides keen on the Austrian.
But there looks to be a major problem for David Moyes’s men.
The Independent claims that Dortmund also want Kalajdzic. And they apparently view the youngster as someone to come in if Haaland leaves.
The report notes that the Norwegian is almost certain to leave. According to a recent report from the Guardian, his asking price stands at £128 million.
That could obviously leave the Hammers as major underdogs to complete a deal. It is also suggested by The Independent that the Irons were eyeing a move for Kalajdzic involving an initial loan.
But with Dortmund’s transfer kitty seemingly set to receive a huge boost, West Ham will surely be bracing themselves to look elsewhere in their bid to sign a new striker.
