Italian website FC Inter News have claimed that West Ham United have tabled an offer to sign Graziano Pelle after the veteran striker became a free agent, but they are not alone in their pursuit of a 20-time Italy international.

Pelle, 35, has left Chinese Super League side Shandong Luneng on a free transfer after his contract expired at the end of December. He has scored 63 goals in 132 games since moving to the CSL club in 2016, and is now on the lookout for a new side.

West Ham have been linked with making a move for the ex-Southampton star this week. Now, FC Inter News claim that West Ham and a Middle Eastern side have tabled offers for Pelle – while talks are ongoing with Juventus and Inter Milan.

TBR’s view – Should West Ham sign Pelle?

Michail Antonio is West Ham’s most-influential player. While Declan Rice is clearly the club’s most-prized asset and probably their best player, Antonio has the biggest impact and that makes him easily first choice up front.

Seb Haller has shown in glimpses that he can also help the Hammers. While he may decide to leave in the summer as he struggles to break past Antonio – he will remain at the club this month, as Antonio’s back-up. So, do West Ham need another?

Pelle is not expecting start every match given his age and on a short-term deal, he gives David Moyes another option in the final third. On a free, it is a low-risk signing – depending on the Italian’s wages.
