West Ham have reportedly launched a move for attacker Alexis Claude-Maurice from French second-tier club Lorient.
According to Sky Sports, the Hammers have made contact with a £10million offer for him.
The report details that the 21-year-old is expected to play at a higher level, after his side Lorient finished sixth in Ligue 2 and were unable to earn promotion to the French top-flight.
Claude-Maurice is still a massive talent that is being tipped for stardom and West Ham have shown a lot of faith by bidding an eight-figure fee for him.
The left-winger scored 14 goals and supplied four assists in 36 games across all competitions for Lorient this campaign.
He’s a versatile attacker that usually plays on the left flank and troubles defenders with his pace, but can be used more centrally too and has an eye for goal.
Claude-Maurice definitely looks destined for things beyond Lorient and he could get his big-money move this summer.
He’s only just turned 21 today (Thursday) and there is a lot of excitement about his future.
The dazzling wide man could be a decent investment for West Ham if they sign him, but supporters would have to be patient with him and it would be some step up to the Premier League.
GFFN have reported that Arsenal have seen a £6.1million offer turned down for Claude-Maurice, so it will be intriguing to see if West Ham’s offer can tempt Lorient into selling their prized asset.
