The Express claim West Ham are still looking at signing Giovanni Simeone, despite the Cagliari striker signing for Verona on a loan-to-buy basis.
Simeone, 26, is on fire for Verona – after joining from Cagliari last summer. He has scored nine goals in 10 Serie A outings, creating three more.
A five-time Argentina international, Simeone joined Verona for a bargain loan fee of £1.3million. It will cost £10.2million to make it permanent.
That clause is likely to be activated given his stellar start to the 21-22 season. A total, then, of £11.5million for Verona to sign Cagliari.
However, that has not deterred West Ham. The Hammers have been linked with the ex-Fiorentina and Genoa ace on multiple occasions over the years.
It appears they remain keen, with West Ham still lacking in cover for Michail Antonio. Sebastian Haller left the Hammers in January 2021.
Of course, Ivory Coast international Haller is shining for Ajax – scoring 27 and laying on 12 assists in 40 outings for the Champions League side.

Simeone to West Ham: How much will the Argentine cost in January?
Given Verona will end up spending little over £11million for Simeone, what is a fair price for the Hammers – given his electric current form?
Well, Simeone has scored goals wherever he has played. He had 22 in 80 games at Fiorentina, 18 in 72 for Cagliari. But his Verona form is different.
Yes, four of his nine have come in one game against Lazio. But if the Hammers can get him for anything less than £25million, it is a good deal.
