Said Benrahma may be one of the most exciting players currently plying their trade outside of the Premier League, but the Daily Mirror has reported that some of West Ham United’s stars have been left bemused by the club’s pursuit of the Brentford star.
Benrahma appeared set to become the Hammers’ latest signing as the deadline looms. It has been suggested that a medical had been scheduled for Wednesday.

However, as noted by the Mirror notes, a move – which could cost West Ham up to £25 million – is now in doubt.
It remains to be seen if a deal can still be agreed. The Mirror claims that the Bees remain confident that Benrahma could still end up at the London Stadium.

However, it would appear that some of the West Ham squad may not mind if their pursuit of the 25-year-old falls through.
According to the Mirror, some of their star players believe that signing a new striker is much more important. And thus, they have been left bemused by the club pursuing the Algerian international given their attacking midfield options.
TBR View: Benrahma has quality to win doubters around
In fairness to the West Ham players who have concerns, they may not necessarily have doubts about Benrahma’s ability. And you could certainly understand their desire to see another striker arrive.
But signing Benrahma would still arguably be an excellent piece of business – if a deal can be done.
Admittedly, it is a risk to not sign another goalscorer. But Benrahma is most definitely a player who will contribute in the final third if he does join.
