West Ham United could be closing in on their third signing of the summer.
Turkish publication TRT Sport (via Ajansspor) are claiming the Hammers are ready to trigger Fenerbahce defender Hasan Ali Kaldirim’s release clause having become linked in the last few days.
The value of that release clause is €5 million (£4.4 million), and a deal could be sorted after the international break.
The Irons have already signed goalkeepers Roberto and David Martin on free transfers, and it looks as though Turkey international Kaldirim will be next through the door at the London Stadium.
£4.4 million for Kaldirim is a relatively risk-free move.
In today’s market that is a very small figure, and for a player who really stood out for Fenerbahce in 2018/19.
It will be interesting to see what the transfer would mean for Aaron Cresswell and Arthur Masuaku.
It was thought that Manuel Pellegrini was happy with his options at left-back.
Maybe neither will be sold but the Chilean will opt to use Masuaku further forward in 2019/20.
Masuaku is known for being an attacking full-back who sometimes shirks defensive responsibility, so perhaps the signing of Kaldirim will see him relived of those duties.
