West Ham United have kept James Tarkowski on their radar despite failing to land the Burnley centre-back during the summer, according to a report from the Sunday Mirror (1/11; page 65).

Tarkowski appeared to be a key target during the summer for David Moyes. As noted by Sky Sports, the Irons made three offers for the England international.

According to that report, the final offer saw the Hammers put an initial £25 million on the table. A further £6 million was included in add-ons.

However, Burnley dug their heels in on that occasion. And it appears that they may have to deal with more offers when the January window opens.

According to the Sunday Mirror (1/11; page 65), West Ham still want the £40 million-rated centre-back. It is noted that the Clarets have their eye on loaning Phil Jones in preparation for more interest in Tarkowski.

TBR View: Little surprise to see West Ham still keen on Tarkowski

West Ham did manage to sign a defender before the window closed. However, it seems safe to say that Craig Dawson’s loan move did not appease disgruntled supporters.

The 30-year-old is yet to feature for the Irons since arriving. So it is no surprise to see Tarkowski remain on their radar.

But those disgruntled supporters will probably have little patience if they once again make a series of bids that fall short of Burnley’s valuation.
