West Ham United have reignited their interest in Lukas Masopust, with Czech outlet iSport reporting that the Hammers are set to make a fresh offer for the midfielder.

The Irons were initially linked with Masopust earlier in the summer. The Sun on Sunday (9/8; page 60) reported that David Moyes’s men were preparing a second bid after having a first offer turned down.

However, with few links emerging in more recent times, it did appear that West Ham signing the 27-year-old this summer had become unlikely.

And iSport has suggested that talks between the two clubs did indeed break down for a number of weeks. But it appears that the Hammers are preparing a new offer.

The report claims that West Ham are ready to offer £3 million for Masopust, with a further £2 million set to be offered in add-ons.

It is also suggested that Slavia Prague are torn over Masopust’s future. So it will be interesting to see whether a new offer does come in from West Ham, and whether it will be accepted.

TBR View: West Ham’s fresh offer may not be enough, judging by previous reports

It is intriguing West Ham are apparently about to offer £5 million for the wide-man. A previous report from iSport claimed that they had had a £5 million bid turned down.

Meanwhile, The Sun on Sunday’s report suggested that West Ham’s second bid would be worth £8 million.

If that is the case, then the Hammers are surely wasting their time making a new £5 million offer. Of course, Slavia’s circumstances may have changed and they may be open to considering a bid they had previously turned down.

But at a time when West Ham fans are already feeling incredibly frustrated with the business the club have done this summer, it may not go down too well if all of the reports prove accurate and they make a bid that is no larger than one that has already been turned down.
