The Athletic have claimed West Ham United are ‘poised’ to complete a permanent deal for attacking midfielder Said Benrahma this month in order to free up a loan space in the Hammers side – with Jesse Lingard potentially set to take that spot.
Benrahma, 25, has clocked up 13 appearances for the Hammers and while he is not showing the kind of form he was famed for at Brentford – he is slowly improving under the guidance of David Moyes. He remains only on loan at the club.
The Algeria international, according to BBC Sport, joined West Ham on a loan deal worth £5million. That loan deal has an obligatory clause included that will see the Hammers pay a further £20million and £5million more in add-ons.
Now, the Athletic claim West Ham are ‘poised’ to activate that Benrahma clause in order to free up a space for a new loan signing – with Premier League clubs allowed only two domestic loans. Lingard is expected to take that slot.

TBR’s view – Is Benrahma worth the entire £30m package?
While he is struggling to show that he is worth that kind of figure right now, he certainly has the quality and potential to do so in claret and blue. It is his first season at Premier League level, and he is still early on in his career at 25.
The fee of £30million in total might seem expensive right now, but a couple of seasons down the line – such a figure might prove a brilliant bit of business from the east Londoners. Bringing Lingard in, too, could help Benrahma.
