West Ham United are open to selling Fabian Balbuena as the January transfer window deadline looms, according to a report from The Telegraph.

It has been an interesting season for Balbuena. The 29-year-old has made 12 appearances in the Premier League. And his form in the early stages of the campaign was hugely impressive.

However, his last top flight appearance came more than a month ago in the 2-2 draw against Brighton.

In his absence, Craig Dawson has largely established himself as a first-choice for David Moyes’s side.

There has been plenty of speculation surrounding Issa Diop this month. However, it appears that it may be the Frenchman’s teammate who is more likely to leave before Monday’s deadline.

According to The Telegraph, West Ham will not consider a loan for Diop. But they are prepared to let Balbuena leave permanently.

The suggestion that the Hammers would sell for the right price would hint that they are not looking to push the Paraguay international – who earns £40,000-a-week, according to Spotrac – out of the London Stadium door by any means.

But it does highlight that he is lower down in the pecking order right now. And if another club is prepared to make a substantial offer, perhaps West Ham would be willing to sanction his exit.
