The Star have claimed that West Ham United have opened talks with the representatives of Manchester United star Jesse Lingard ahead of a potential January move – with the England international having entered the final six months of his contract.
Lingard, 28, has been included in Manchester United’s 25-man Premier League squad this season but has failed to play a single minute under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season. He has been included on the bench in just four of their league outings.
Sky Sports claimed ahead of the January window that his agents had spoken with Spanish outfit Real Sociedad over a loan until the summer. A loan deal for Lingard is likely to see the £75k-a-week (Spotrac) play his last ever game for United.
That is because his contract ends in June. A reunion with David Moyes could materialise, with the Hammers seemingly pushing for the midfielder. The latest report claims they have opened talks with Lingard’s agents over a possible loan.

TBR’s view – Lingard would be a decent signing for West Ham
At his best, Lingard is one of England’s best attacking midfielder and he showed that at the 2018 World Cup – scoring a delightful goal against Panama an putting in some excellent displays for the Three Lions. He has 24 caps to his name.
But right now, he is far from that player. He needs game time, momentum and confidence in his ability from a manager willing to give him to TLC he requires. Moyes would be ideal for Lingard, and so would West Ham. A loan made in heaven.
