Report: West Ham now talking about trying to sign 'excellent' 22-year-old from PL club

West Ham United are looking to bolster their defence this summer, with TalkSport reporting that they could raid AFC Bournemouth for left-back Jordan Zemura.

Hammers boss David Moyes has made a relatively busy start to the window as he has added three players to his squad, including centre-back Nayef Aguerd from Stade Rennais for £30 million (BBC).

But it seems that Moyes isn’t done bolstering his backline just yet as TalkSport reports that the club are keeping an eye on Zemura.

The Zimbabwe International enjoyed a brilliant season for the Cherries last year, scoring three goals and providing one assist under Bournemouth boss Scott Parker. He was a pivotal part of the team that gained promotion to the Premier League.

Zemura is also heading into the final year of his contract at the south coast side and if he decides to pursue a move to the Hammers, he could be available on a cut-price deal.

But TalkSPORT added that the Cherries will now step up contract talks with Zemura due to the Hammers’ interest in the youngster.

The report also states that Moyes is keen to bring in a younger player to compete with Aaron Creswell for the left-back spot.

Last September, Parker dubbed Zemura as ‘excellent’ and praised the full-back for his attacking approach after a 3-0 win against Barnsley. The high-energy defender seems like he would be an ideal fit for his boss’ former club.

TBR’s View: Zemura would provide brilliant competition for Creswell

Zemura enjoyed a superb breakthrough season in the Championship last season and could add another dimension to Moyes’ side. He would add bundles of energy down the left-hand side and fight for a place with Creswell.

As Moyes likes to switch to a back three with wing-backs at times, this could also allow Creswell to play centre-back and Zemura to occupy the wide spot. He’s a player who has a very high ceiling and if he’s available for a good price, it would be a smart signing for the Hammers.
