West Ham United are one of the Premier League sides monitoring Yangel Herrera, with Goal reporting that Pep Guardiola is considering bringing the midfielder into the Manchester City fold next season.
The Venezuelan has been on City’s books since 2017. However, he is yet to make his debut for the club, spending the large majority of his time out on loan.
He is currently edging towards the end of a two-year spell at Granada in La Liga. And according to Goal, his form is leaving Guardiola weighing up including him in his plans upon his return.
But Goal adds that the 23-year-old is also attracting attention from elsewhere. West Ham and Southampton have Herrera on their radar.
TBR View: West Ham loan could be ideal for all
It does appear that David Moyes needs further depth in the middle of the park. Mark Noble is edging towards the end of his career.
And beyond Declan Rice, Tomas Soucek and the captain, the Hammers do not boast a lot of options.
A loan move for Herrera therefore, could be perfect for all parties. Manchester City get to see how he would get on in the Premier League.
Meanwhile, West Ham could bolster their ranks with a player who has enjoyed a superb year in Spain. And perhaps they can hold out hope that there may be scope for a permanent deal further down the line.
