Report: West Ham make first move to sign 'amazing' player who's just like Michail Antonio
West Ham United have now made a move to sign Breel Embolo from Borussia Monchengladbach, 90 Minutes claim.
They say that West Ham have enquired over the asking price for the forward, who shone at Euro 2020.
Embolo was the Swiss star of the tournament, with his dribbling skill coming right to the fore.
Embolo caused Wales no end of problems in Switzerland’s opening game at the competition and was generally a threat throughout for his country.
Positives and negatives
If he was to arrive at West Ham his versatility could be useful, as he plays right across the front three.
West Ham are known to be looking at signing a new number nine, and Embolo would tick a lot of boxes.
The concern from the Hammers would have to be over his lack of goals and his injury history though.
Embolo has never truly been a natural goalscorer, and he has a tendency to struggle to stay off the treatment table.
That being said if West Ham could get the best out of Embolo then his talent would certainly make him an interesting addition to their squad.
Don Hutchison actually described Embolo as ‘amazing’ after seeing him at Euro 2020, and compared him to a young Michail Antonio (BBC Sport).
And the appeal of the potential transfer is clear to see, after he enjoyed such a strong summer with his country.
