Report: West Ham make contact to sign 23-year-old who likened himself to Ibrahimovic
According to le10sport, West Ham have made contact with Clermont Foot over the signing of Mohamed Bayo.
What’s the story?
Well, it seems West Ham are stepping up their pursuit of a striker.
The east Londoners have ‘swung into action’ according to le10sport, contacting the Ligue 1 outfit about Bayo earlier this week.
Lille and Bordeaux are also keen on signing the 23-year-old, but the Hammers have the greatest financial power in this race.
In fact, le10sport believe Bordeaux’s finances effectively rule them out of the race all together.
West Ham are trying to sign the next Zlatan Ibrahimovic
By his own admission, Bayo plays like Swedish icon Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Bayo also had posters of Ibrahimovic in his bedroom as a child, and seems to idolise the former Manchester United forward greatly.
It is imperative that West Ham wrap this deal up, or failing that, a deal for another striker.
There are just days left until the transfer window ends.
It would be utterly criminal to enter the new season with Michail Antonio as their only senior striker – the Irons have to get active in the market.
