Football London have claimed that West Ham United are set to rival Slaven Bilic’s attempt to sign Matheus Pereira on a permanent basis, as the Brazilian shines on loan from Benfica – and the Hammers are also keen on two Norwich City stars.
Pereira, 23, has been in stunning form for the Baggies as they sit in second place in the Championship. Indeed, Pereira has had a hand in 22 goals during his 34 West Brom outings – scoring six times and creating a whopping 16.
The Express & Star claim West Brom have a permanent clause included in the loan deal to sign Pereira for £8.25million, which would surely make them favourites. West Ham may have to pay through the nose for the Brazilian.
David Moyes is clearly planning ahead with the current Premier League season suspended until April 30, and he has also been linked with Norwich City duo Kenny McLean and Emi Buendia – as the Canaries look more than likely to suffer relegation.
TBR’s view – What do West Ham need?
Most importantly, the Hammers need central midfielders – even after the signing of Tomas Soucek. That makes McLean, who shares the same nationality with West Ham’s manager, a prime candidate to swap Norwich for east London this summer.
Pereira’s form, though. is hard to ignore and he would also be a top, top addition to the Hammers side – especially with Manuel Lanzini struggling to recreate the form that once saw him linked with a move to Liverpool
Argentine ace Buendia has been somewhat in Todd Cantwell’s shadow and although an excellent player, Pereira and McLean would be better signings for the Hammers.
