West Ham United are amongst the sides interested in taking Brandon Williams on loan from Manchester United, according to a report from The Sun.
The Hammers are looking to sign a left-back this month. They have lost Arthur Masuaku to injury, and Aaron Cresswell was outstanding earlier this season on the left of a back three.
The Daily Mirror reported on Saturday that an enquiry for Emerson Palmieri had been made. However, Chelsea rejected the bid to take the Italy international on loan.
But he is not the only Premier League full-back seemingly on their radar. According to The Sun, the Irons are keen on loaning Williams. It is noted that Southampton are also admirers of the 20-year-old.
Williams – who earns £65,000-a-week, according to Spotrac – has been a peripheral figure at Old Trafford so far this term. So he may be interested in moving on before the deadline passes to ensure that he gets minutes under his belt.
He is a player who can play in both full-back roles. But of course, he will face another battle when Masuaku returns from his knee injury.
Masuaku had been superb before being sidelined. And the Mirror noted that he is expected to be back by the end of February.
That may leave Williams with time to stake a claim to be a regular starter. But if he takes a little while to get going at the London Stadium, Masuaku could ensure that he faces further frustration over the final months of the season.
