West Ham United boss David Moyes has considered a move for Nathan Ake as he looks to land a left-sided centre-back in the summer, according to a report from The Times.

The Irons have enjoyed another remarkable campaign. They have been in the mix for the European spots once again. But they are also into the last four of the Europa League. And with that, Champions League football could be on the agenda next year.

It appears that the Hammers have a number of targets on their radar as they look to capitalise on their development. And one of the areas they hope to strengthen is at centre-back.

The Times notes that they are rivalling Newcastle and Tottenham for Sven Botman. But another name on their wishlist is Ake.

It is not the first time they have been linked with the Dutchman. Reports claimed that they wanted the Manchester City ahead of the January transfer window.

Nathan Ake could be an exciting signing for West Ham

Ake has made 23 appearances for the Cityzens this season. However, he has never been able to make himself a first-choice for Pep Guardiola’s side following his £41 million move.

It is not clear whether he would be interested in joining the Hammers. But at 27, he will surely have thoughts about whether he wants to leave to play more regularly.

And it is an exciting time to join West Ham. If they can keep their star players together, and make some smart signings, there is no reason why they cannot find themselves in a similar position next year.

Bringing Ake to the club could definitely be a brilliant piece of business.

Virgil van Dijk has previously described him as a ‘fantastic‘ player. And it seems hard to imagine that there will not be a raft of sides monitoring his situation in case he becomes available.
