West Ham United are reportedly in contact with Benfica regarding the availability of Gedson Fernandes.
According to Sky Sports, the Hammers are exploring the possibility of an 18-month loan deal, which would include an option-to-buy at the end.

Fernandes is thought to want a move to the Premier League, and in recent days he has also been linked with Manchester United.
The 20-year-old midfielder has made 12 appearances for the Portuguese giants so far this term having been injured for the first few weeks.
Fernandes’ contract actually contains a £102 million release clause according to The Daily Mirror, but Benfica know no team would pay anywhere near that figure for a player that is currently out-of-favour.
TBR’s view – Fernandes an exciting Hammers addition
Fernandes is a very talented attacking midfield player, who probably needs a change of environment right now.

It is thought he has fallen out with coach Bruno Lago, which could be a reason for Benfica being open to letting him go.
Fernandes is a very versatile player with good technical skills and quick feet. He also takes a decent free-kick, which is always an added bonus.
It would be an exciting first signing by David Moyes and certainly a sweet one if he was able to beat former club United to him.
