African website WIWSport have claimed that West Ham United are in talks to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Idrissa Gueye before Monday’s 11pm deadline on loan – after Newcastle failed to convince the player over a move.
Gueye, 31, has been a regular in PSG’s side but with Mauricio Pochettino preferring the likes of Marco Verratti, Leandro Paredes and Danilo Pereira since arriving in the French capital – Gueye could look to depart.
Earlier during deadline day, Newcastle agreed a move with PSG to sign the former Aston Villa midfielder – but the player himself turned down the potential move, according to The Mail. He is keen on a move to England, though.
Now, it is claimed that a late move could materialise and that West Ham are locked in talks for a player that cost PSG a whopping £28million (Sky) in the summer of 2019. It is believed he would be open to joining West Ham.

TBR’s view – Gueye is a top player, but is he needed?
West Ham have been excellent under David Moyes this season – with the midfield combination of Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek proving fundamental for the East Londoners. Does Gueye get into the side above them?
Probably not. The duo’s form has even seen club captain Mark Noble drop to the bench. Gueye would be a top signing but the ex-Everton man would have to make do with a place among the substitutes.
