West Ham United are the team in pole position to sign Aaron Ramsey, with Calciomercato reporting that it is growing increasingly likely that the Juventus midfielder will return to the Premier League this summer.
Ramsey has played more of a prominent role for the Old Lady this term. The 30-year-old has made 12 starts in Serie A and is not far off eclipsing the number of minutes he got in the top flight last year.
Nevertheless, it appears that the Welshman could soon be on the move. A number of English sides have been linked with the former Arsenal star.
Tuttomercatoweb reported on Saturday that the likes of Spurs, Everton and Liverpool had looked at Ramsey.
But Calciomercato is now claiming that it is the Hammers who lead the race.
You would imagine that Ramsey will not come cheap. According to a report from BBC Sport, he agreed a deal with Juve worth £400,000-a-week ahead of his 2019 arrival. The Telegraph also suggested that those were the terms agreed.
So even if his club are willing to sell for a low fee, his wage demands are certainly set to be hefty.
West Ham may be looking to set their sights higher this summer. David Moyes’s men are on the cusp of finishing in a superb position in the table this season – and they may have European football to consider next term.
They have gone down the route of signing more established names before – and it has backfired.
Having said that, the deal to loan Jesse Lingard has proved inspired so far. And Ramsey is showing in Turin that he still has plenty to offer.
