French website Le10Sport have claimed West Ham United have already identified the player they want to replace Sebastian Haller – and that is Reims striker Boulaye Dia, who is in the form of his life in Ligue 1.

Haller, 26, is expected to complete a move to Dutch side Ajax for a fee in the region of £22million. An announcement is expected soon, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claiming personal terms have been agreed.

Dia has already been linked with a move to West Ham – but it appears now that he could be signed as early as this month to replace Haller. The 24-year-old has scored 10 goals in 16 Ligue 1 matches.

It remains to be seen how much Dia would cost, though West Ham will face competition from Lyon and Marseille for the three-time Senegal international. His contract at Reims has entered its last 18 months.

TBR’s view – Dia would be a top addition

But is it another example of West Ham going overseas to buy a striker, when they need to add a proven Premier League goalscorer to their ranks? Dia is still pretty young, and is on a red-hot patch of form.

However, Dia only scored seven goals in his 24 Ligue 1 appearances last season. He boasts bags of pace and also boasts the versatility that allows him to play out wide. But should the Hammers go for Dia?

Or would they be better served to go for a player like Josh King? Only one way to find out.
