Report: West Ham hit stumbling block in quest to sign Chelsea player

West Ham United have hit a stumbling block in their quest to sign Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek over the player’s wage demands.

According to Goal, the Premier League outfit are keen to sign the attacking midfielder but want Chelsea to help with the £150,000-a-week wage demands.

The 24-year-old started the Blues’ first game of the season at Brighton but hasn’t made a matchday squad for the last four games in all competitions.

After an injury-hit couple of years, it’s paramount for Loftus-Cheek to head out and play, with both Villa and West Ham offering him the chance to do so.

In 82 appearances for the Blues, he has scored 12 goals and registered 11 assists, without ever really holding down a regular place in the team.

Boss David Moyes is crying out for new additions to come into West Ham before the window closes.

His team defeated Wolves 4-0 at the weekend and there is a confidence that with a few additions they can kick on this season.

West Ham narrowly avoided relegation last season and he will hope to improve on their form during 2020/21.

The beauty of signing Loftus-Cheek would be his versatility. He can operate in midfield, as a No.10 or even as a centre-forward if called upon.

An injury-hit campaign hampered his progress last season and regular game time can help him hit top form once more.

Loftus-Cheek would provide the Hammers fanbase with a lift, with plenty disgruntled at the lack of incoming activity at the club this summer.

He is versatile, comfortable in possession and is also capable of taking players on with relative ease.

If Loftus-Cheek can stay fit and rediscover his best form, someone will get themselves a very good addition.
