Report: West Ham have now set their sights on 24-year-old Van Dijk 2.0; could cost £10m
The Express report that David Moyes has his eyes on potential replacements has he prepares to sell Issa Diop to Fulham.
Thilo Kehrer is one potential option and the Hammers have apparently opened talks with French champions Paris Saint-Germain over signing him.
Fenerbahce defender Szalai is another name on the list and his asking price is apparently between £10 and £15 million.
West Ham want Szalai
Szalai played and came up against Hammers forward Jarrod Bowen in June when Hungary thumped England 4-0 at Molineux.
That offered an insight into his quality and his suitability for doing the business against Premier League strikers in a claret and blue shirt.
Kurt Zouma was West Ham’s only fit orthodox central defender for the opening game of the season against Manchester City.
The 24-year-old enjoyed a superb Euro 2020 to boot and his performances have led supporters of his country to reportedly refer to him as the “Hungarian van Dijk”.
Moyes has already had some rotten luck with his first central defensive signing of the summer, as Nayef Aguerd has suffered an injury which has delayed his start to life in a West Ham jersey.
