West Ham’s fringe player Albian Ajeti is reportedly open to the idea of leaving the London Stadium on loan for the rest of the season, but there is a complication due to UEFA rules.

According to Sky Sports, the Switzerland international would be willing to depart the Hammers on loan to increases playing time.

It is understood that the 22-year-old is “frustrated” by the fact he’s made just seven appearances since his £8million (BBC) summer arrival.

He moved to West Ham after starting the season with FC Basel, but the report has explained that the fact he’s played competitively for two clubs this season is an issue.

It’s believed that several European teams have made loan offers to sign Ajeti, but were unaware that he wouldn’t be able to register with them until the 2020/21 campaign.

The report details that the centre-forward could only leave in January if he was to join a team in a league that commenced a new season in the New Year, with Sweden, the USA or Japan potential options.

TBR’s View:

Ajeti is in a difficult position right now and it will interesting to see what West Ham decide is best for his future in January.

He’s a young striker that needs game time to improve his development, but that doesn’t look likely moving forward if he stays put this season as he’s fallen down the pecking order under current manager Manuel Pellegrini.

The forward has not started a single Premier League match all season, while he has competition from teammates such as Michail Antonio and Sebastien Haller.

Ajeti scored an impressive 43 goals in 96 games for Basel, but has found the transition difficult so far to English football.
