West Ham United would like to sign Antonio Rudiger on loan, according to The Sun, while they are also keen on £20 million-rated defender Mohamed Simakan.

David Moyes is still awaiting the chance to add a new face to his squad this summer. But it would certainly appear that bolstering his defensive ranks is a priority as the deadline looms.

The Sun reports that the Hammers have put their pursuits of James Tarkowski and Wesley Fofana on the back burner over their asking prices.

It is suggested that they are now keen on taking Rudiger for the season. Meanwhile, they are also monitoring Simakan.

The Sun claims that the 20-year-old will cost around £20 million. So it will be interesting to see whether the Irons have any interest in meeting those demands.

Simakan is a player with only 29 senior appearances under his belt. He does look to have a bright future ahead, and can play in a variety of positions.

The Sun on Sunday notes however, that the Hammers were unwilling to pay £40 million for Tarkowski. Unlike Simakan, he has proven himself in the Premier League. So perhaps it should not be a big surprise if the youngster’s asking price also proves problematic.

That may leave the Irons hoping Chelsea are willing to loan out Rudiger. Even on loan however, he will not cheap either.

Spotrac shows that he earns £100,000-a-week at Stamford Bridge.

And with clubs likely to be well aware of how keen West Ham are to strengthen their defensive ranks, it is difficult to imagine many sides being willing to drop asking prices with the deadline edging closer.
