The Northern Echo have claimed that West Ham United are willing to sell powerhouse striker Jordan Hugill at the end of the month, but want a whopping £10million for his signature.

The Daily Mail reported in January 2018 that David Moyes had signed 26-year-old Hugill from Preston North End for a fee of £8million. He managed only three substitute appearances in the second half of the 2017-18 campaign.

It saw him decide to leave the London Stadium on loan last summer, joining Tony Pulis’ Middlesbrough. Game time has been much more aplenty, but he has still struggled to regain the form that saw West Ham sign him from Preston.

The target man has managed just seven goals in 34 appearances for the Teesside club. But Pulis is said to have been thoroughly impressed with the striker despite his poor ratio in front of goal.

Indeed, Hugill’s strength and aerial prowess allows him to bring others into the game. He offers something different up front, and it is clear to see that Pulis is a fan of the former Port Vale and Hartlepool forward.

TBR’s view

There is no chance that Hugill has a future at West Ham. He has been a complete and utter waste of £8million. Even with Andy Carroll, Lucas Perez and Javier Hernandez’s future all up in the air, Hugill must be sold.

Championship clubs will certainly be interested in the striker. But at £10million, West Ham are risking clubs opting to pull out of a deal, with Hugill certainly not worth such a fee at the moment.

Half of that would be a much fairer valuation of the forward.
