West Ham United could finalise a deal to sign Gianluca Scamacca today, with Alfredo Pedulla reporting that Sassuolo have accepted an offer for the forward.
The Hammers have made a busy start to the window, adding three players to David Moyes’ squad. The Scotsman has been on the hunt for a striker and if reports are true, the boss could soon get his man.
Alfredo Pedulla reports that the Serie A club have accepted an offer worth up to £39.9 million from West Ham. It also claims the talented 23-year-old is attracted to the idea of joining them, going as far as saying ‘yes’ to the London side.

The Italian International would come in to compete with Hammers striker Michael Antonio and provide Moyes with another option up front. And it was something West Ham lacked last season as winger Jarrod Bowen often filled in when Antonio was unavailable.
Scamacca is apparently close to joining the East London club but it is a matter of ‘patience’ for Hammers fans, according to Alfredo Pedulla. The journalist claims the agreement could be sealed by the weekend.
The ‘complete’ Italian striker enjoyed a real coming-of-age year in Serie A last season, as he netted 16 goals in 36 games. He was even called up to Roberto Mancini’s Italy squad last September and made his debut against Lithuania.

Up to this point, West Ham have been unsuccessful in their attempts to sign a striker. The Hammers had agreed a fee for Villareal’s Arnaut Danjuma, but found no agreement on personal terms, as Fabrizio Romano reported.
Moyes has already added midfielder Flynn Downes, defender Nayeuf Aguerd and goalkeeper Alphonse Aerola to his options. But he will undoubtedly be delighted to get a striker in to bolster his attacking options if this deal goes through.
TBR’s View: West Ham desperately need a striker and Scamacca would be perfect for them
Moyes struggled with a slightly thin squad last season as his team went deep into the Europa League. He was particularly limited with his striking options as Antonio was the only recognised forward in the team.
But by signing Scamacca, it will provide him with another option and healthy competition for the number nine spot. The Italian is also a brilliant goalscorer and nuisance for the opposition, mainly due to physicality as he stands at 6ft and 3inches. He would suit Moyes’ West Ham side perfectly.
