West Ham have reportedly made contact with Manchester United about the availability of their midfielder Scott McTominay.

According to Sky Sports, Manchester United are chasing Hammers defender Issa Diop and are prepared to offer £45million plus a player to secure his signature.

It is understood that Manuel Pellegrini’s team do not want to sell the centre-back and have not been interested in the players being offered as part of deal.

The report details that West Ham have now asked about the situation with Manchester United midfielder McTominay.

The Scotland international has come through the academy ranks at Old Trafford and become a first-team regular during the last year.

McTominay is a defensive midfielder that played 22 senior games last season for Manchester United and has immense potential.

The 22-year-old has established himself as a key player for Scotland too and he earns £30,000-a-week (Mirror) at Old Trafford.

TBR’s View:

West Ham thrived with the midfield pair of Mark Noble and Declan Rice last season, but they could do with some more competition for places in the centre of the park.

McTominay is very much built in the same mould as the Hammers duo and it’s easy to imagine him slotting into the midfield in front of the back four.

But Pellegrini’s team should not let their star centre-back Diop exit this summer and any pursuit of McTominay should be done separately.
