A number of Premier League clubs, including West Ham and Newcastle United, are set to be miss out on USA midfielder, Weston McKennie, with Juventus poised to complete a deal.

According to American news outlet CBS, McKennie is set to sign a deal with Juventus in a move which would see him move away from Bundesliga side, Schalke 04.

It is claimed an initial loan deal worth around £3m has been agreed for McKennie, while a future fee in the region of £16m has been agreed to make the move a permanent transfer.

McKennie’s move to Juve will put an end to interest from the Premier League. Newcastle, West Ham, and Southampton have all been credited with an interest, with 90Min claiming just a few days ago that the Saints were in pole position to seal a £22.5m deal.

The USA star has built quite the reputation over in Germany and is already a regular for his country. A move to Juventus will be massive for McKennie, who will no doubt be eager to learn from the new manager, Andrea Pirlo.

This is a shame for the Premier League in general but an even bigger blow for the clubs who were linked, especially Newcastle.

The Magpies have struggled to attract players this summer and look like heading into the new campaign with minimal new arrivals.

But, on the flip side, how does McKennie turn down a move to Turin? He simply doesn’t. Newcastle, Southampton, and West Ham will just have to move on to other targets it seems.
