Report: West Ham and Newcastle make enquiries for Conor Gallagher

West Ham and Newcastle United have both failed after making enquiries for Conor Gallagher, with 90min reporting that Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel wants to keep the midfielder this season.

It is no surprise to see Gallagher attract plenty of attention this summer. The 22-year-old was exceptional during a loan spell with Crystal Palace last season.

And with the Blues often struggling to promote their loanees into the first-team fold, some of their Premier League rivals may have fancied their chances of striking a deal.

Certainly, a number of sides have made a move. 90min reports that West Ham and Newcastle have made enquiries for the England international. Meanwhile, Palace have also registered an interest in bringing him back to Selhurst Park.

However, they have all been left disappointed. 90min reports that Tuchel currently wants to hold onto Gallagher. And with that, all three clubs have failed in their bids to sign him.

It is noted that Chelsea’s stance could yet change depending on who they manage to bring in before the deadline passes.

West Ham and Newcastle fail with enquiries for Gallagher

Gallagher would be a brilliant signing for either West Ham or Newcastle if a deal becomes possible. He was arguably Palace’s best player last season.

Patrick Vieira labelled the youngster ‘special‘. And the Eagles are going to do well to find someone to fill the void that he has left behind.

He is a player Chelsea fans would love to see get a chance this year. But it may be best for him to move on if he is going to struggle for game-time during this campaign.

Certainly, the likes of West Ham and Newcastle may not have minded seeing Gallagher only get a couple of minutes at Goodison Park at the weekend.
