Italian site CalcioNapoli24 claim Newcastle and West Ham have both made offers to sign Lorenzo Insigne on a free transfer. However, it appears that the Italian superstar could be on his way to the MLS – with Toronto.
Insigne, 30, is one of the biggest names in Italian football. Not only because of his 53 caps, and helping Roberto Mancini’s side win Euro 2020 in the summer – but also because he has clocked up 415 appearances for Napoli.
In that time, Insigne has more than 200 goals and assists. Scoring 114, he has created 91. Little surprise then, that he is generating huge interest ahead of the January window – with his contract due to expire at the end of June.
Napoli are keen to keep him, but are unwilling to offer more than £72,000 a week, including bonuses. Tottenham have long been linked, but CN24 now say that Newcastle, West Ham and Atletico Madrid have been in contact.

The three clubs are said to have made offers to land Insigne – who wants to see out the season at Napoli. It means he can sign a pre-contract deal with a non-Italian side from January 1. But Toronto are leading the race.
Newcastle and West Ham eye Insigne: Perfect for the Premier League
Indeed, Toronto finished second bottom in the Eastern Conference in 2021 – and need some magic. It appears they are ready to spend big, bringing in another pocket-sized Italian superstar – after Sebastian Giovinco starred for Toronto.
CN24 say Insigne has decided to accept a mammoth offer from Toronto – £160,000 a week, and six bonuses. Such as, goals, appearances, assists, win bonus etc. He is ideal for the Premier League, even at a cost. But it might be too late.
