West Ham and Newcastle United are reportedly among the clubs interested in Watford defender Christian Kabasele.
According to Le10 Sport, both West Ham and Newcastle have entered the race alongside some familiar teams for the 28-year-old.
It is underwood that Manchester United and Arsenal are also keen on trying to land the in demand centre-back.
The report explains that Kabasele is soon expected to pen a new contract at Vicarage Road, but teams are still looking at trying to snap him up this January.
Kabasele has been with Watford since 2016 and he’s certainly proven that he is a decent performer at Premier League level.
The two-time capped Belgium international is someone with decent pace and he reads the game well.
He’s not quite had his best individual campaign this year so far, but has been a mainstay in the Watford team for several years and is a no-nonsense defender.
Kabasele is not a high-profile name that frequently turns in top-class performances, but on his day is a decent centre-back that suits English football.
It would be a surprise for Nigel Pearson’s team to lose him when a new deal is meant to be on the horizon, but he could strengthen the options for West Ham in their squad if they manage to complete a deal.
Meanwhile, Newcastle do have several decent centre-backs in their ranks, but January is turning out to be a nightmare for them in terms of injuries.
