Report: West Ham and Everton eye Rangers star

Rangers may now face an even tougher fight to keep Glen Kamara at Ibrox this summer, with Give Me Sport reporting that two top-half Premier League sides have made contact with the Gers midfielder’s representatives.

According to Give Me Sport, both Everton and West Ham have made their interest known to his people. Former club Arsenal reportedly registered their admiration a few months ago.

Signing Kamara was a masterstroke from Rangers. As noted in the report, the Finland international cost the Light Blues just £50,000.

He has gone on to make well over 100 appearances in all competitions for Steven Gerrard’s side.

Remarkably, he played 51 times last season as the Gers got their hands on the Scottish Premiership title once again.

He has proved that he can stand out on the big stages, having produced some amazing performances in the Europa League.

Rangers need to target contract talks with star amid West Ham and Everton interest

Of course, Kamara could be playing in the Champions League next term should he stay at Ibrox.

But there are a number of Premier League admirers. And Rangers may not necessarily find themselves in the strongest position.

According to Give Me Sport, his contract expires in 2023.

So while Rangers are not necessarily under serious pressure to sell, it is probably fair to say that his value may be at its peak if, for any reason, he decides that he does not want to sign a new deal.

But the likes of Everton and West Ham can surely not expect Rangers to do them any favours if Kamara decides he wants to move on.

Plenty of Gers fans suggested the club should hold out for at least £20 million when the links with Arsenal emerged earlier this year.

It would be a surprise if the Ibrox hierarchy held a different view.
