West Ham United are one of four Premier League clubs monitoring Derby County right-back Jayden Bogle ahead of the January transfer window, according to a report from The Telegraph.
The right-hand side of the defence looks to be an issue that Manuel Pellegrini will soon have to contend with. Ryan Fredericks has proved to be a shrewd signing, but Pablo Zabaleta looks to be coming towards the end of his career at the London Stadium.
And it appears that the Hammers boss is eyeing Bogle as a potential replacement for the Argentinian. The Telegraph reports that West Ham want the 19-year-old next month.
The report notes that Crystal Palace, Brighton and Burnley are also interested. It is suggested however, that the latter may hold off making a bid until the summer.
The Telegraph adds that Derby may be open to selling Bogle in January. It is noted that Phillip Cocu could use the £7 million that the Rams reportedly want to strengthen his squad.
TBR View – £7m move could be masterstroke
It has been a difficult time for Derby who were one game away from reaching the Premier League last season.
Cocu’s men are languishing in the bottom-half of the table this term. Nevertheless, Bogle continues to impress for his side.
The youngster has contributed three assists this season. Admittedly, he has some way to go before matching his remarkable tally of nine from the last campaign.
He certainly has the potential to make a £7 million move look like a masterstroke. And given that Zabaleta looks unlikely to be at West Ham for much longer, it would arguably be a mistake for the Irons to not make their move for Bogle.
