France Football has claimed that both West Ham United and Crystal Palace are interested in signing AS Monaco defender Djibril Sidibe this summer for a bargain £13million.
The 26-year-old was linked with the likes of Manchester United and Europe’s biggest clubs in the last few years, but his reputation has somewhat decreased over the last 12 months.
An 18-time France international, Sidibe was part of the Monaco side that escaped relegation from France’s top tier last season by the skin of their teeth – struggling under Thierry Henry and then Leonardo Jardim.
Although Monaco escaped the drop, Sidibe’s reputation has subsided as have a lot of players in the Monaco side. Indeed, the right-back managed 32 appearances in all competitions – but he has a contract until 2022.
Valencia are also interested in Sidibe, while Crystal Palace are keen on replacing Aaron Wan-Bissaka. West Ham are also said to be keen to land the French star’s signature.
TBR’s view – £13m a bargain for either West Ham or Palace
Yes, Sidibe endured a difficult season during the 2018-19 campaign, but he is still an excellent right-back and at £13million he is a bargain for most European sides this summer.
He is a proven Champions League right-back, but he is now affordable for the majority of Premier League sides. West Ham do not need a right-back, but it would be hard to turn Sidibe down at £13million.
Palace certainly do need a right-sided defender and bringing in the Frenchman after receiving £50million for Wan-Bissaka is excellent business.
