Report: West Ham agree fee to sign Nicolas Tagliafico
De Telegraaf claim West Ham have agreed a fee to sign Ajax left-back Nicolas Tagliafico. But the Argentina international is yet to agree a move.
Tagliafico, 28, has spent the last three and a half years at Ajax – clocking up 141 appearances. But he is yet to move to one of Europe’s biggest leagues.
The 33-time Argentina star is considered one of the best left-sided defenders in world football yet to chance his arm at a top-tier club.
But now, he could be on his way to the Premier League – the opposite of a move that took Seb Haller from West Ham to Ajax earlier this year.
The report states that a fee of £10.25million has been agreed between clubs. But Tagliafico is yet to agree personal terms for the left-back.
Tagliafico to West Ham: £10.25m a bargain for the Hammers
The report states that West Ham tabled a four-year deal to Tagliafico, but it was deemed as inadequate. Talks, though, are ongoing.
It is believed that there is confidence an agreement can be struck before the English deadline of 11pm on Tuesday evening. It would be some coup.
West Ham do have Arthur Masuaku and Aaron Cresswell as options. But with Cresswell now a left-sided centre-back, another player is needed.
Masuaku, of course, has been indifferent during his Hammers spell and was sidelined for much of last season with injury. Tagliafico starts.
If the Hammers can get a deal done for Tagliafico, then it is a stunning bit of business – but they will have to work incredibly fast.
