Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is desperate to keep star striker Alfredo Morelos at Ibrox this summer. The Colombian, who scored 29 goals for the club last season, has suitors from around Europe and it looks increasingly difficult to keep the Rangers hero in Glasgow.
Now, Rangers could be about to face an Ibrox onslaught from a team south of the border.
As reported by the Daily Record, the Rangers striker is back on the radar of recently promoted English club West Bromwich Albion.
The Baggies tried to sign Morelos last summer but failed. However, they are reportedly set to try again, with manager Slaven Bilic said to be a big fan of the Ibrox goal-machine.
The same report also suggests just how much it might cost to prise Morelos away. It is claimed that French side Lille will return with a £17 million bid for the player this week, after being told they must offer over £15 million to get any deal done.
West Brom are said to be waiting in the wings to make their offer and with their promotion financial boost, are likely to simply match any offer and give Morelos a straight choice.
At £17 million Rangers are going to struggle to reject a transfer offer for the Colombian, despite his obvious importance to the cause at Ibrox.
Now, with Premier League interest inbound, Rangers’ fight to keep Morelos looks to have increased even further in difficulty.
