West Bromwich Albion are closing in on signing Martin Olsson, with Swedish outlet Expressen reporting that the 31-year-old is set to join the Baggies on a free transfer.
The Championship leaders are yet to make their first signing of the January transfer window. But it appears that Slaven Bilic is not planning to take their current position in the table for granted.

Expressen reports that Olsson is set to seal a move to the Hawthorns shortly. It has been reported that he had recently left the national team’s training camp in Doha to discuss a move to England. And it appears that West Brom are set to land his signature.
The left-back has spent his entire professional career in England, playing for Blackburn Rovers, Norwich City and Swansea City. However, he has been a free agent since the end of last season when his deal at the Liberty Stadium expired.

He struggled with injury during his final year with the Swans. And he departed having only made four league appearances last season.
But it appears that West Brom are confident that Olsson’s injury problems are largely behind him.
The move to the Baggies will see Olsson compete with the likes of Kieran Gibbs and Conor Townsend for a place in Slaven Bilic’s side.
If he can stay fit, he could prove to be a shrewd signing for the league leaders. He has made almost 300 appearances across the Premier League and Championship during his career.
And on a free transfer, it may be looked back upon as a good piece of business from West Brom.
