Sky Sports have claimed on their Transfer Centre (Thursday, 09:12) that West Bromwich Albion are one of five Championship sides interested in Burnley striker Nahki Wells – but are yet to make an offer.
It is believed that QPR are one of two clubs to have tabled a loan offer for 29-year-old Championship goal getter Wells. But they are not alone, with Middlesbrough also said to have made a loan offer.
Elsewhere, Birmingham City, West Brom and Bristol City are all interested in Bermuda striker Wells – and they could indeed table offers sooner rather than later. He has struggled at Burnley since his move to Turf Moor.
BBC claim Burnley spent £5million on Wells in the summer of 2017, but he managed just 10 appearances for Sean Dyche’s side in his first campaign. He went on loan to QPR last season, scoring nine times in 43 games.
QPR are one of the sides, then, that want to sign Gayle for a second season and have made an offer – as have Middlesbrough. But West Brom will be just as keen to sign the striker.
Slaven Bilic is likely to want a new forward after losing Jay Rodriguez, Dwight Gayle and Salomon Rondon. Bilic has brought in Kenneth Zohore, and the Baggies are also said to be in talks with Southampton star Charlie Austin.
