West Brom have confirmed their interest in Jesse Lingard by making an enquiry to take the Manchester United man on loan, but Sky Sports reports that a Hawthorns switch is looking unlikely.
The Baggies will be looking to make the most of the final days of the transfer window. They have already brought in a couple of players this month. But of course, they remain in trouble in the Premier League.

They have space to sign one more player on loan from an English club. And according to Sky Sports, one player they have made a move to sign is Lingard.
The report claims that an enquiry has been made regarding a potential loan move. However, it is suggested that the loan fee and wages would be a problem for the Baggies.

Sky Sports notes that a deal would be possible if United were willing to cover a significant portion of his wages. However, they are not prepared to do so with so many teams keen to sign the 28-year-old.
According to Spotrac, Lingard is on £75,000-a-week. So it is probably not a surprise that West Brom are not willing to pay those kind of figures.
Even on loan, signing Lingard could be deemed a gamble for some clubs. West Brom have one more domestic loan available to them. And if they are working with a limited budget, it is imperative that they use it wisely.
The 28-year-old has barely played this season. So he may take some time to get up to speed wherever he goes.
And West Brom surely cannot afford to pay anything like £75,000-a-week for a player who may not hit the ground running.
