West Brom are looking at Real Betis midfielder William Carvalho, according to a report from The Mail on Sunday (17/1; page 150).
Sam Allardyce has his first win since taking over at the Hawthorns. The Baggies produced a superb display to beat Wolves 3-2 at Molineux on Saturday.
New signing Robert Snodgrass was outstanding. And it appears that Allardyce has set his sights on further additions before the deadline passes.
One of the players the club want is Carvalho. The Mail on Sunday (17/1; page 150) claims that West Brom are looking at the Portugal international.
The 28-year-old has made 14 La Liga appearances this season, including 10 starts for Manuel Pellegrini’s side.
Carvalho has been linked with a move away from Betis for much of the window. But Pellegrini claimed this week – in comments reported by Marca – that he has not seen Carvalho show any desire to move on.
It does appear that West Brom could do with signing a holding midfielder this month. So you could understand why they may be interested in Carvalho amid speculation over his future.
But it seems unlikely that he would come cheap. And with the Baggies still in a precarious position in the Premier League, it may be a gamble to make a move for the Euro 2016 winner.
