West Bromwich Albion would love to sign Grady Diangana from West Ham United on a permanent basis if they are promoted, according to a report from The Sun on Sunday (8/3; page 59).

Diangana has been an inspired loan addition to Slaven Bilic’s side. The 21-year-old has scored five goals and contributed five assists in 21 Championship games.

He has struggled with injury and has not made an appearance since January. But that has clearly not put the Baggies off.

It remains to be seen how West Ham would react to any interest.

There is the possibility that the pair could swap divisions this term, with Bilic’s men second in the Championship while the Hammers languish just above the relegation zone.

But it is surely not a given that Diangana will leave the Irons should they go down anyway.

West Ham will surely lose a number of key players if they are relegated, and that may give the 21-year-old the option to establish himself in the team at the London Stadium.

But if West Brom do go up and make an attempt to keep him on a permanent basis, he could be forgiven for being tempted – particularly if he faces returning to the periphery of the Hammers squad after this season.
