Xande Silva may have barely featured for the first-team during his time with West Ham United, but The Telegraph reports that he is attracting attention from Premier League rivals West Bromwich Albion.
The Baggies are looking to bolster their attacking ranks before the transfer window shuts. The Telegraph notes that Karlan Grant and Watford pair Troy Deeney and Andre Gray are on the Baggies’ radar.
Interestingly, The Telegraph adds that Slaven Bilic is also monitoring Silva.
It is an intriguing link given how little the 23-year-old has played for the Hammers. He has only made two appearances for the senior side, having also struggled with injury at times.
Silva arrived at the London Stadium the year after Bilic left the club. So perhaps there is a chance that he would have been aware of the youngster before his departure if he was on the club’s radar for some time.
TBR View: West Ham may face tricky decision
It is tough to know how West Ham may react if West Brom do indeed make a move for Silva. He has got an impressive record in Premier League 2, scoring 10 goals in 11 games.
However, some may have their doubts about Silva’s chances of breaking into the Irons first-team. It does seem to be rare for a youngster to make the grade if they have not done so by the time they are 23.
Nevertheless, Moyes’s men currently lack attacking options. And if the Hammers do sell Silva, it is unlikely that they going to receive the kind of fee that makes signing a marquee replacement a much easier task.
So it will be very interesting to see how West Ham respond if Bilic attempts to make Silva the second Hammers youngster he lands during this window.
