West Brom are hopeful that they will be able to bring Mbaye Diagne in on loan this month, according to a report from the Daily Express.
The Baggies have been one of the busier Premier League sides in this window so far. Robert Snodgrass and Andy Lonergan have arrived as Sam Allardyce looks to drag the side out of trouble.
And it appears that their focus is now on signing a striker. According to the Daily Express, they have received encouragement in their pursuit of Diagne.
Galatasaray have reportedly reopened talks with Zamalek over a move for Diagne’s potential replacement, Mostafa Mohamed.
West Brom have reportedly already held discussions with the Super Lig side. And they are now hopeful of signing the 29-year-old.
The Express notes that the Baggies are keen to bring the Senegal international in on loan. And they would like to agree an option to buy as part of the move.
TBR View: Diagne loan worth a roll of the dice for West Brom
Diagne has had an interesting time of things lately. He was sent off in his most recent appearance. But that came after he had scored nine goals in his previous eight games for Gala.
He scored 30 top flight goals during the 2018/19 season. And he boasted an impressive strike-rate while on loan at Club Brugge last year.
So a loan move for Diagne is certainly worth the risk for West Brom at this stage. If he can replicate anything like the form he has shown in Turkey, he could make a significant difference at the Hawthorns.
