Report: West Brom eyeing English club’s no.10, as Diangana returns to West Ham

The Birmingham Mail have claimed in that West Bromwich Albion are rivalling Sheffield United in the race to sign Peterborough United number 10 Siriki Dembele – as Slaven Bilic goes about replacing West Ham’s Grady Diangana.

Diangana, 22, starred for West Brom as the Baggies regained promotion to the Premier League. On loan during 2019-20, he had a hand in 15 goals during 30 Championship appearances – scoring eight and creating seven.

But the Hammers have chosen to keep him despite West Brom’s best attempts and now the Baggies need a replacement. Dembele, 23, also had a hand in 15 goals during 30 games, though at League One level.

Posh’s number 10 is considered one of the best in League One, though. It is believed Dembele has entered the final year of his contract and move could be engineered. TransferMarkt claim he has the same agent as Semi Ajayi.

TBR’s view – Dembele would be a good signing

But he should not be the only addition West Brom make out wide. Yes, he has excellent in an exciting Peterborough side in the final third – but Dembele has not been proven above the third tier of English football.

The jump from League One to Premier League is more than just considerable. Dembele is an exciting prospect and can become a Premier League-standard winger, but the Baggies should also bring in more proven talent.
