Sam Allardyce is pushing for West Brom to sign Clement Grenier, with The Sun reporting that the 30-year-old can move on a free transfer this month.

The Baggies have already got a couple of signings through the door in this window. Both Robert Snodgrass and Andy Lonergan have joined the club as they look to drag themselves out of trouble.

And it appears that Allardyce has now set his sights on Grenier. According to The Sun, the Baggies boss is pushing for the club to sign the France international.

The report claims that Grenier will be allowed to leave Rennes for nothing this month. His contract expires in the summer. It is suggested that West Brom may have a couple of hurdles to clear.

The Sun notes that Allardyce will need to convince Grenier to agree a contract that fits their budget.

It has also been reported that the midfielder would need guarantees that his wages would not be cut if West Brom are relegated.

Grenier is actually enjoying a good run of form. He has scored two in his last three Ligue 1 games, including the winner against Metz just before Christmas.

And on a free transfer, it could prove to be a fantastic piece of business. But if he is indeed available for nothing, West Brom can surely not expect to be the only club in the running.
