Leeds United were linked with a shock move to sign Celta Vigo attacker Emre Mor who is currently playing for the Whites’ bitterest of rivals in Galatasaray on loan – and now Spanish outlet El Desmarque claim West Brom are also interested.

Turkish outlet Fotospor are claiming that Leeds are interested in signing the 22-year-old despite Mor playing for Gala. Leeds fans despite the Turkish side, after two Whites fans were stabbed to death after attending the UEFA Cup semi-final in 2000.

Mor, who is a Turkey international but has only played for Gala 16 times, could be about to return to Celta Vigo given his poor form in his home country. He has failed to score or create a goal for the Turkish SuperLig side.

Now, Leeds’ closest promotion rivals West Brom are also said to be keen in former Borussia Dortmund star Mor – who joined Celta for £11million (ESPN) – and it appears the Baggies are beating Leeds in the race to land the attacker.

Indeed, the report claims West Brom’s representatives have met with Mor’s agents – who was also offered to Lazio. It remains to be seen where Mor ends up, whether it is at Leeds, West Brom or another club this month.

TBR’s view – A player both Leeds and West Brom should avoid

Both clubs are equally poised in the race to finish in the top two places of the Championship. Leeds remain top on goal difference, but both are nine ahead of third place after 26 league games.

It makes January crucial. Both need signings, but ones that will not harm the changing room and have a detrimental effect. Mor could do that, given he has reported late for Celta training and argued with thenn-boss Thomas Tuchel at Dortmund.
